Paint a Mural community event
Location: Willow Spring Park
Date and time: July 16th 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Puente Latino Association in partnership with the Office of Sustainability will host an event where the community will be invited to help paint a mural at Willow Spring Park. Games, art workshops, park tours, and music will also be part of this event
The proposed mural features the flora and fauna present at Willow Spring Park and spotlights the ecological and cultural issues intertwined with white sage. The mural itself is three hundred square feet in size. The objective of the mural is to foster community awareness about the importance of land restoration, provide further access to the programs that are offered to the community, and to activate the park as a safe urban green space. Additionally, the mural will provide a creative visual for the community to engage and learn more about the park and the native habitat of California that Willow Springs Park has to offer. The mural is funded by the Arts Council and by the South Coast Chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
Special thanks to our sponsors and partners: Art Council of Long Beach, the Native Plant Society, Parks and Recreation Department, and the city of Long Beach.
