The Native Milkweed Giveaway event exceeded all expectations, with an outpouring of interest and enthusiasm from the Long Beach community. Through the combined efforts of the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, Surf Rider Foundation Long Beach, and Puente Latino Association, We were able to provide 1,500 milkweed plants to families throughout the city. This achievement represents a significant step forward in bolstering the local Monarch butterfly population and their vital habitats.

The optional classes conducted in English and Spanish during the event were a resounding success. Attendees gained valuable insights into the crucial role of milkweed in supporting the Monarch butterfly life cycle and learned practical tips on creating butterfly-friendly environments. The engaging presentations fostered a deeper understanding of the ecological importance of preserving biodiversity and inspired participants to become environmental stewards in their own neighborhoods.
