We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of a new way of transforming the grounds around office buildings into an open space for the community is about to make its debut. On Saturday 8th, 2023, Puente Latino Association and the Long Beach Community Foundation (LBCF)will hold the grand opening celebration of the native plant and vegetable educational garden at the (LBCF) Non-Profit Center.
This exciting new project is the result of a collaboration between a group of passionate individuals who believe in the power of placemaking and the importance of sustainability.
The educational garden is a prime example of how place making can be used to create something truly special and make a positive impact on the community. The garden is located in the heart of Bixby Knolls, in the front yard of the Long Beach Community Foundation center. This location was chosen not only because of its central location, but also because it is surrounded by apartment buildings with limited space to grow vegetables, and no open space for the residents in the area. The project is part of PUENTE L.A and the LB Community Foundation's mission of promoting sustainability.
The grand opening celebration is an opportunity for the community to come together and learn about the benefits of native plants, educational gardens, and trees in small spaces. The day will be filled with fun, learning, and inspiration. Visitors will have the opportunity to take a tour of the area and learn about the various plants and techniques used to make a water-efficient landscape. Also, they will be planting some vegetables and four fruit trees in the garden.
In addition, there will be guest speakers who will share the importance of trees and tree maintenance. These speakers are experts in their field and will provide valuable insights into the importance of sustainability and the impact these practices can have on the community.
The grand opening celebration will also be an opportunity for visitors to meet like-minded individuals and make new friends. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a newcomer to the world of place making, you are sure to leave the event inspired and motivated to make a positive impact on the world.
So why wait? Mark your calendars and join us for the grand opening of the educational garden in Bixby Knolls. Be a part of something truly special and learn about the power of transformative gardening. We can't wait to see you there!
